Who we are
Animal Welfare International is an animal welfare charity focused on rescuing and protecting street animals through humane sterilisation, rabies vaccination and sustainable feeding programmes. The organisation promotes responsible pet adoption with thorough screening and contracts. Animals that are trapped, neutered and released are supported by local feeders. Where appropriate, shelter is provided.
All donations are used efficiently to maximise impact, with no UK administrative costs taken from funds. AWI supports existing charities and NGO’s abroad who provide sterilisation, vaccination and education for street animals.
In London, UK, AWI is conducting TNR (trap, neuter, release) programmes with feeders for wild, abandoned cat colonies. Females are kept for 7-10 days for post operative monitoring, males are released 2 days post operatively. Rehoming for animals that can be socialised is attempted in all cases.

It costs us £16.00 to sterilise a dog or cat including post operative care. In Madurai alone there are up to 38,000 free roaming dogs.
Donate today and support our ongoing efforts to reduce suffering, prevent overpopulation, and give animals a healthier, safer future.
What does Animal Welfare International do?
Sterilise | Adopt | Vaccinate | Educate
Animal Welfare International is a small animal sterilisation charity dedicated to improving the lives of street and abandoned animals worldwide, through local community-driven solutions. Working closely with local feeders, the organisation humanely captures street animals, carries out sterilisation programmes and provides essential vaccinations, particularly against rabies, before safely returning the animals to their environment with ongoing access to food and water.
Through structured adoption drives, Animal Welfare International promotes responsible pet ownership using formal contracts, multilingual information resources and thorough home checks with follow-up support. AWI supports and cooperates with local charities to provide these services in the UK and abroad.
With a strong commitment to transparency, all donated funds are used legally, responsibly, and efficiently. There are no salary costs as the trustees are volunteers. Office expenditure and administration costs are funded by the trustees personally.
Currently, AWI is working closely with IPAN, The Seeshah Kennel Trust Fund in India and The Tikiri Trust in Sri Lanka on pop up sterilisation clinics. These clinics sterilise thousands of cats and dogs.
In London, over an 8 month period from August 2025 – March 2026 AWI has worked with over eight street colonies and 54 cats have been treated for fleas, worms, vaccinated, sterilised and chipped. The majority of them have been rehomed.
